A good friend of mine who's an excellent guitar player says Rocksmith is a fantastic learning tool. Another friend who's a pretty decent bass player says the same. I don't have an opinion on it.

It's really good! I've been using Rocksmith, and I've really only got one complaint: it's a bit unstructured. Like there are a bunch of lessons, but it doesn't suggest any kind of order to do them in. It would be nice if it were set up like "here's My Generation by The Who, you should do these lessons which will help you out". So occasionally you're playing a song and you'll encounter something the game hasn't explained. It isn't a big deal, but still.

There's another program called Rock Prodigy that has a little bit more of a class-like structure, so for me that's been really good. I feel like I'm using Rock Prodigy to learn to play, and Rocksmith as a kind of practical experience. And if you get Rocksmith with the cable, you can use the cable on your computer with Rock Prodigy.

I've noticed that Rocksmit seems to have trouble picking up my single pickup Fender Esquire for some reason, but my Telecaster has two pickups and works much better. Rock Prodigy appears to be fine for both. It might just be my playing style though.

I have it, and it's amazing. It's probably best if you have some knowledge of how to play, because using Rocksmith to learn guitar from scratch is a bit difficult due to the nature of the game.

It's fun if you like noodling on a guitar and also like gaming. It will help with fingering but it won't teach you theory or notation or even tabs. So it really depends on what you want.

I have it and love it. I don't want to learn scales and theory, I want to play songs I know. Rocksmith is good for teaching you how to play the songs and improving your ear.

Im almost already decided to get it. The problem is that i dont like that much the default songs.

How expensive are the DLC tracks?

I like rock before the 90's. I noticed there are packs of songs from those that i do like. but i dont know how much they cost.

Most are around $2.99. Sometimes you can buy a pack and save a buck or two. Most packs are around $10-12. I had the old version of Rocksmith and paid some amount (don't remember how much) to import the songs from the first version. That gave me more songs that I liked. I also paid to open up the bass path, as I'm learning bass now.
